A.PAUKŠTYS, FOUNDER AND PRESIDENT OF TELTONIKA, RECEIVES THE AWARD FOR STRENGTHENING THE LITHUANIAN STATE

Arvydas Paukštys, the founder and president of Teltonika company group, is awarded the Jonas Karolis Chodkevičius Gold Medal "For State Strengthening Activities". The award was given by the Jonas Karolis Chodkevičius Charitable and Support Foundation.
The ceremony, which took place at the Vilnius Picture Gallery, was attended by well-known figures of culture, science and politics, including the the President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda, Cardinal Audrys Juozas Bačkis, and other honoured guests.
"A strong country is a free country. But freedom is not a given - it must be strengthened and defended. This requires three things. First, citizens who love their homeland and who cherish their values, art, culture and science. We also need a strong and prosperous economy, which is the responsibility of business and our national government. And we desperately need a strong army that deters enemies.
But success is in God's will, and the effort is in our hands. So what we can do together will be the future we create. I love Lithuania very much, and I will do my utmost to ensure that our economy is strong, competitive and prosperous, so that we can help not only our own people, but also our friends in Ukraine who are fighting for their freedom and for all of ours. I also thank our heroes, our defenders of the nation, our signatories, for the freedom of Lithuania. It is up to us to defend, preserve and strengthen it," said A. Paukštys when receiving the award.
This is the third time that the J.K. Chodkevičius Gold Medal "For State Strengthening Activities" has been awarded. In 2021, the Jonas Karolis Chodkevičius Gold Medal for State Strengthening Activities was awarded to Jonas Ohman, the founder and head of Blue/Yellow, an organisation that mobilises support for Ukraine.
In 2022, the Jonas Karolis Chodkevičius Gold Medal for State Strengthening Activities was awarded to Arvydas Anušauskas, Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Lithuania, and Andrius Tapinas, journalist, for the united efforts of the state institutions and the civil society in the defence of freedom.
The award is presented by the Jonas Karolis Chodkevičius Charitable and Support Foundation, which was founded by well-known public figures and representatives of science and culture. The Foundation seeks to commemorate and present the personality of J.K. Chodkevičius to the general public, encourages a deeper knowledge of the country's history, invites citizens to act for the prosperity of the state, and to devote their energies to social and cultural activities.
Jonas Karolis Chodkevičius (1570-1621) was one of the most famous European military leaders of the early 17th century, a nobleman of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Count of Shklov and Myss, and a meritorious statesman: Elder of Samogitius, Grand Hetman of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and Voivode of Vilnius, who was distinguished in the fields of education and culture.
